The Tear Garden was initially formed in 1986 by cEVIN Key and Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink Dots) during a visit by Ka-Spel to Vancouver. They were joined by Dwayne Goettel for the first full-length release. On subsequent releases, the line-up has grown to include all of the members of the Pink Dots and other friends.

Notes:This was the very limited (reportedly around 50 copies were produced) solo debut of Bill Leeb (aka Wilhelm Schroeder). This release is listed here because some copies of the cassette included an untitled version of the track 'Tear Garden', from the self-titled debut Tear Garden 12"EP. This version was, according to cEvin Key, a blatant ripoff of the original Tear Garden track. The song was removed from later copies of 'Nerve War'.
